Canadian Reduced Gravity and Stratospheric Balloon Experiments - Call for Applications
An opportunity for students (open to undergrad and grad students) to participate in the Canadian Reduced Gravity Experiment (CAN-RGX) and the Canadian Stratospheric Balloon Experiment (CAN-SBX) design challenges. With the application period currently active, we would greatly appreciate your help in spreading the word to the students in your department. SEDS-Canada (Students for the Exploration and Development of Space) is a non-profit that aims to create research and professional development opportunities in the space sector for Canadian post-secondary students. CAN-RGX is a competition for students to design, test, and fly a scientific payload in microgravity on a parabolic flight. CAN-SBX is a competition for students to design, test, and launch a scientific payload to the stratosphere on a high-altitude balloon. These projects are conducted in collaboration with the Canadian Space Agency and National Research Council. ÉTS is still a member of the Montreal Aerospace Institutes (MAI), but the "SOW internship" portion of this partnership no longer exists. AÉROÉTS will continue to offer conferences, industry visits, networking activities and other opportunities related to aerospace engineering. To find an aerospace internship, we encourage you to apply for the many projets offered through the Service de l'enseignement coopératif's platform. We take this occasion to inform you that ÉTS is not a partner of the Canadian Mobility and Aerospace Institute (CMAI). We do not endorse the projects that may be posted on this organisation's web portal (called "SPOT"). 2.3M$ investment for a pilotless helicopter
The company Laflamme Aéro Inc. recently announced the launch of a 2.3M$ project to develop and demonstrate a 300 kg pilotless helicopter called the LX300™. This new aircraft will become one of the largest drones to be commercialized for the civilian market around the world. The project, in which Professor Pierre Bélanger of ÉTS is participating, will conclude with demonstration flights by 2017.

RockÉTS wins 2nd place at the IREC 2015 competition (Utah)
From the Utah desert, the RockÉTS scientific club returns with a 2nd place win in the Advanced category (23 000 feet) at the Intercollegiate Rocket Engineering Competition (IREC), which took place from June 24th to 27th in Green River. Hyperion II gave an impressive performance by reaching 23 901 feet and crossing the sound barrier at Mach 1.3.
